As the semester comes to an end...

Final Exams

Classes are required to meet during their final exam period time slot scheduled by the Academic Affairs Office. College policy requires one of the following types of assessments during this time period:
  • A comprehensive exam to be given at the time designated in the final exam schedule.

  • A unit exam, covering the last unit or module of the course, to be given at the time designated in the final exam schedule.

  • A term project or take home exam delivered to the instructor at some time during the designated final exam period.

  • An evaluation of projects, papers, or performances completed during the term, the evaluations to be scheduled during the designated final exam period at a time convenient for both student and instructor.

Adjunct math faculty must all use the departmental final exams for their courses. Unless excused by the Math Coordinator, all adjunct math faculty are required to proctor final exams during the math group final time slot (the time and date of math group exams is listed on the final exam schedule).

Other final exam policies include the following:

  • All faculty must provide our department's Administrative Assistant with an electronic copy of their final exam which must be kept on file in the Department. This must be submitted before the exam is administered to students.

  • Completed Final Exams are not returned to students (although students can drop by to view their exam after they're graded) and must be kept on file for one year. Adjunct faculty may give their completed exams to the Department Secretary to file.
Final Grades
Final course grades should be entered into Banner within 48 hours of giving your final exam. If you require more time, please discuss this with your Program Coordinator or the Department Chair and notify the department's Administrative Assistant Michelle Keuning and the Registrar's Office (687-5075). You cannot just give a student an incomplete (I) for a grade, there is a procedure that must be followed for this - speak with the Program Coordinator and/or Department Chair about how this is done. Also, never leave a grade blank, all students in the official roster must be given a grade (if they've never showed up, it's a failure (F).
If You're Not Returning...
If you are not on the teaching schedule for the following semester, you should see Michelle Keuning to see what you have to do and return your College ID, parking sticker, and any keys to the Safety and Security Office in HAS 134.
