Adjunct Faculty Information

Welcome to the adjunct faculty information page for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Department at SUNY Ulster County Community College. By economic necessity, part-time adjunct faculty teach the majority of the core introductory courses at our institution. We work hard, however, to ensure that all faculty hired to teach in our department are of the highest quality and do the best possible job teaching and mentoring our students.

We stress academic excellence in our department and our goal is to ensure that STEM courses at SUNY Ulster are of the same quality as equivalent courses at any four-year college or university. This includes our high school Collegian course offerings as well as those at the Shawangunk Correctional Facility. How we differ is that ALL students are given an opportunity to attend and succeed and that we provide remediation and personalized support to assist motivated students in reaching their academic goals.

The information linked below is provided to adjunct faculty to assist them in their teaching and other duties and to prevent the problems which arise when certain essential tasks are not performed in a timely fashion. As Department Chair, I'm willing and eager to do all I can to make your job easier and more rewarding but there are also expectations both the college and department have of all faculty which must be met. Repeated difficulties in these areas will result in adjunct faculty not being renewed for a subsequent semester.

My BUR-105F office door is always open for faculty and emails (schimmrs@sunyulster.edu) or phone messages (845-687-7683) will receive a swift response. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns at any time.
